Job Description

The Water Restoration Technician plays a key role in restoring residential and commercial properties affected by water and related damage. This position is well suited for individuals with experience in carpet cleaning, construction, landscaping, pest control, or general labor, and who are comfortable performing physically demanding work. You will work as part of a field crew, traveling extensively to customer sites, using specialized equipment to remove water, performing demolition of damaged materials, and helping return properties to a safe and functional condition while providing trustworthy, professional service.

Responsibilities

  • Travel extensively to residential and commercial customer locations in a timely and professional manner using a company vehicle.
  • Work as part of a crew to remove water from structures using specialized restoration equipment.
  • Perform demolition tasks such as removing damaged furniture, flooring, wallboard, and other affected building materials.
  • Assist with restoration and remediation activities related to water, wastewater, property damage, and water treatment.
  • Use hand tools and other equipment safely and effectively during construction, demolition, and excavation-related tasks.
  • Enter customers’ residences and facilities and provide trustworthy, solution-focused service while addressing water and related damage issues.
  • Collect monetary payment from customers upon completion of each job when required and promptly proceed to the next service call.
  • Participate in excavation work in and around commercial and residential buildings as needed for restoration and remediation.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including the proper use of respirators and other personal protective equipment.
  • Attend paid office or team meetings and required training sessions to stay current on procedures, safety practices, and equipment use.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, vehicle, and equipment, ensuring all tools and machinery are properly cared for.
  • Work long days involving hard physical labor, including lifting, carrying, bending, and working in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Support remediation efforts for water, fire, and other property damage situations in accordance with company standards and regulatory guidelines.

Essential Skills

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive extensively to customer locations.
  • Comfort wearing and working in a respirator for extended periods when required.
  • Ability and willingness to perform long days of hard physical labor in varying conditions.
  • Hands-on experience or strong aptitude in construction, general labor, landscaping, carpet cleaning, pest control, or similar trades.
  • Proficiency using hand tools and basic construction or demolition equipment safely.
  • Ability to perform demolition tasks, including removal of damaged flooring, wallboard, furniture, and other building materials.
  • Comfort working in environments involving water, wastewater, property damage, and remediation activities.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to enter customer homes and businesses and provide trustworthy, respectful service.
  • Capability to handle basic payment collection from customers in a professional manner.
  • Reliability in arriving on time, following schedules, and completing assigned jobs each day.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in restoration, water damage, fire damage, or remediation work is beneficial.
  • Background in excavation or working in commercial and residential building environments is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with water treatment, property damage assessment, and remediation processes is helpful.
  • Backflow certification is preferred; support is available to obtain this certification.
  • OSHA 10 certification is preferred; support is available to obtain this certification.
  • CDL Class A license will be required eventually; support is available to help obtain this license.
  • Willingness to participate in a 4-week employer-paid training program conducted in the field.
  • Openness to ongoing learning through paid training, quarterly reviews, and skills development programs.

Work Environment

The role is primarily field-based, with work performed at commercial and residential properties, including excavation work and restoration activities inside and around buildings. Typical workdays are structured as 8-hour days, with the potential for overtime paid at 1.5 times the average production for the week. Employees clock in as soon as they leave their home each morning, reflecting the travel-intensive nature of the position. The work involves frequent driving in a company vehicle, use of specialized water restoration equipment, and regular use of hand tools and demolition tools. The environment can be physically demanding, with long days, hard labor, and exposure to water, wastewater, debris, and damaged structures. Safety is a priority, and you will use respirators and other protective gear as needed. Training is conducted in the field over a 4-week employer-paid program, and office or team meetings are compensated at an hourly wage.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
