Overview

This role involves performing Telecommunications support and maintenance at an FAA facility in Anchorage, Alaska. The technician will be responsible for programming Avaya Aura systems, troubleshooting telephony and cabling issues, and providing support for voice enterprise services. The position requires extensive experience in telecommunications infrastructure and system administration, ensuring optimal operation of the local telephony network and related systems.


Education & Certification Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience is required. Certifications such as Avaya ACIS and ACSS in Aura Communication Manager, CM Messaging, Conferencing, and related fields are desirable.


Onsite Requirements

This role is onsite at the FAA location in Anchorage, Alaska.


Responsibilities

  • Program Avaya Aura systems including Communication Manager and Messaging Voicemail.
  • Perform moves, additions, changes, and password resets on phone systems.
  • Support and troubleshoot digital, IP, and analog phone sets.
  • Resolve telephony, data cabling, and vendor line/circuit issues.
  • Coordinate with service providers to resolve network faults.
  • Document network design changes and maintain infrastructure standards.
  • Follow ITIL processes for ticket management and escalation.
  • Conduct testing and validation of voice infrastructure integrations.

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of telecommunications experience.
  • Proficiency in programming and support of Avaya telephony systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Capable of obtaining and maintaining an FAA Public Trust clearance.
  • Knowledge of PBX/Telco troubleshooting principles and methods.
  • Experience with network infrastructure monitoring and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based procedures and technical documentation.

Desired Skills

  • Experience working as an Avaya Tier II helpdesk engineer.
  • Knowledge of network design and telecommunications troubleshooting practices.
  • Understanding of enterprise voice infrastructure and system integration.
  • Certifications in Avaya Aura Communication Manager and related systems.
  • Knowledge of ITIL framework and processes.
