Position Overview
We are seeking a Fiber Optics Technician to support testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fiber-based and electronic equipment in a lab environment. This role is ideal for candidates with strong fiber experience who are comfortable working with technical equipment and following detailed procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cables (single-mode and multi-mode)
- Perform fiber testing using OTDR, light sources, and power meters
- Troubleshoot signal loss and connectivity issues
- Calibrate and functionally test equipment
- Follow test procedures and manufacturer specifications
- Document work performed in internal systems
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in fiber optics or telecom technician roles
- Experience with OTDR, power meters, and fiber testing tools
- Strong understanding of fiber optic principles
- Ability to troubleshoot and follow technical procedures
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a lab or test equipment environment
- Military telecom or PMEL background
- Experience with RF or telecom equipment
Work Environment
- Lab-based environment (not tower climbing or heavy field work)
- Requires standing, lifting, and handling equipment
