Systems Administrator / Data Integration Engineer

Job Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Pay Rate: $30.00/hour W-2

Conversion Salary: Approximately $60,000 annually


About the Role

Robert Half is seeking a versatile Systems Administrator / Data Integration Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Rock Hill, SC. This position is ideal for a technology professional who enjoys balancing infrastructure support with data integration and automation initiatives.

The role will split responsibilities between maintaining and supporting core IT infrastructure and developing integrations, reporting solutions, and automation processes that improve business operations. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across multiple departments to ensure reliable system performance and effective data management.


Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Systems Administration

  • Administer and support Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Manage Active Directory, user accounts, group policies, and authentication services.
  • Support Microsoft 365 technologies including Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Maintain cloud-based services and resources within Microsoft Azure.
  • Perform server patching, upgrades, backups, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot system, application, and infrastructure issues across the environment.


Data Integration & Automation

  • Develop and maintain system integrations between business applications and enterprise platforms.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for reporting, data analysis, and data movement.
  • Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI.
  • Build automation solutions utilizing PowerShell, Python, and Power Automate.
  • Support data modeling and data quality initiatives across multiple systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.


Security & Compliance

  • Assist with vulnerability management and security remediation efforts.
  • Support cybersecurity best practices, access controls, and compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in system audits, documentation, and disaster recovery processes.


Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure Support, or a related role.
  • Strong experience administering Windows and Linux environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory and LDAP.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Strong SQL skills, including querying and data analysis.
  • Experience developing reports and dashboards with Power BI.
  • Scripting experience using PowerShell, Python, or similar automation tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with ERP platforms and enterprise business systems.
  • Exposure to GIS technologies such as ESRI or Cityworks.
  • Experience supporting utility, telephony, or IVR systems.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, vulnerability management, or PCI-related controls.
