Job Title: Construction Superintendent / Supervisor

Job Description

The Construction Superintendent oversees day-to-day operations on active construction sites, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with plans, specifications, and quality standards. This role leads on-site activities, coordinates subcontractors and trade partners, and serves as the primary on-site point of contact for quality control, safety compliance, and project coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily construction activities on the job site to ensure work progresses safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site crews to maintain workflow and meet project milestones.
  • Monitor site safety practices, enforce safety regulations, and promote a safety-first culture in alignment with OSHA and company standards.
  • Review, interpret, and verify construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to guide field operations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control, compliance with building codes, and adherence to project requirements.
  • Track project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and collaborate with project stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
  • Use project management tools and daily reporting applications to document site activities, progress updates, and any incidents or changes.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with project teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate work and address questions or concerns.
  • Support problem-solving on site by identifying challenges early and implementing practical, timely solutions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site that reflects high standards of safety and workmanship.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a construction superintendent or in a similar on-site leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply blueprints, drawings, and technical documents in the field.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to direct and motivate subcontractors and site crews.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Solid problem-solving abilities to address site issues quickly and effectively.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and daily reporting applications.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation, reporting, and communication.
  • OSHA 30 certification (required).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in project management and project coordination within construction environments.
  • Familiarity with site construction practices and sequencing of trades.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced job-site setting.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site position based at active construction projects. The role involves frequent walking, climbing, and navigating various areas of the job site, often in changing and sometimes challenging weather conditions. Work hours follow project schedules and may include extended hours when needed to meet critical deadlines and maintain project momentum. The environment is field-focused, hands-on, and highly collaborative, with regular use of project management tools, reporting applications, and standard construction equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.
