The Opportunity

A growing engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Portland, OR office. This role offers the opportunity to lead and contribute to technically challenging projects that positively impact both industry and community environments.

The successful candidate will be involved across the full project lifecycle—from concept and design through commissioning and construction support—working on a wide variety of project types.


This position is well-suited to someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who enjoys taking ownership of their work, building client relationships, and collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior technical resource on complex engineering projects
  • Perform mechanical system design and coordinate with cross-functional teams
  • Prepare engineering calculations and supporting design documentation
  • Develop mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment layouts
  • Coordinate with vendors on equipment selection and integration
  • Support bid package development and construction documentation
  • Contribute to proposals, including scope definition and fee estimates
  • Participate in business development and client relationship management
  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and building mechanical systems
  • Experience with process systems and equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, chillers, etc.)
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client and vendor relationships
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or CADWorx preferred
  • Experience with pipe stress analysis tools (e.g., Caesar II or Autopipe) is a plus
  • Knowledge of PIPE-FLO is desirable
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
