Position Overview
Capstone is seeking an experienced Private Equity Business Development Senior Associate to join our team. This role is designed for a professional with 2+ years of experience in business development or client relationship management within the financial services spacewho is eager to grow within a collaborative team environment. The Senior Associate will support senior dealmakers in revenue generation efforts, contribute to business development strategy, and play an active role in client engagement and market intelligence.
The Senior Associate role offers meaningful exposure to senior-level client interactions and strategic business development initiatives. Working closely with senior leadership and deal teams, you will actively support client engagement, contribute to prospecting efforts, and help execute BD strategy with increasing responsibility over time as you build your expertise and relationships within the firm.
Position Structure & Expectations
Immediate Contributions (0–3 Months)
- Rapidly onboard onto Capstone’s platforms, client base, and value proposition
- Support senior team members in managing client accounts and pipeline tracking
- Participate in client calls, introductions, and prospecting outreach alongside senior staff
- Identify and surface early-stage business development opportunities to senior leadership
Growing Contributions (3–12 Months & Beyond)
- Take on increasing responsibility in supporting revenue generation and client development initiatives
- Assist in developing and executing BD strategies under senior leadership guidance
- Begin leading select client interactions and outreach efforts with appropriate oversight
- Build familiarity with Capstone’s private equity client network and expand professional relationships
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Support & Revenue Generation
- Support senior team in managing relationships across Tier 1, 2, and 3 private equity clients
- Participate in client calls, quarterly reviews, introductory meetings, and project readouts
- Assist in prospecting efforts through targeted outreach, research, and follow-through
- Help identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities and surface them to senior leadership
- Represent Capstone at industry conferences, networking events, and roundtables as appropriate
Business Development & Market Strategy
- Support the development and execution of prospecting strategies targeting new PE firms and institutional investors
- Contribute to market mapping efforts: track deal flow, dry powder, fundraising cycles, and M&A activity
- Conduct profiling of prospective clients, including AUM, investment thesis, and portfolio composition
- Help identify hot subsectors and emerging deal themes to inform BD campaigns
- Collaborate with senior leadership on refining Capstone’s go-to-market approach
CRM Management & Operational Excellence
- Maintain data integrity and pipeline accuracy in Salesforce as a proficient CRM user
- Support management of the sales pipeline, from prospecting through deal progression
- Execute post-call workflows: logging, opportunity creation, research distributions, and follow-up scheduling
- Assist in maintaining and updating marketing campaigns for new and high-priority focus areas
- Process and manage legal documentation (NDAs, joinders, non-reliance letters) efficiently
Market Intelligence & Database Management
- Maintain comprehensive Non-Reliance Letter (NRL) database across all active transactions
- Proactively track personnel changes, team movements, and hiring activity across client firms
- Monitor PeakLoad, PitchBook, MergerMarket, and other deal platforms for relevant transactions
- Maintain and publish LinkedIn deal announcements; ensure real-time accuracy of client matrix
- Build and continuously update profiles on PE portfolio companies, investment activity, and fund raises
Marketing & Communications
- Support preparation for client meetings, including customizing pitch materials and briefing documents
- Assist with the monthly refresh and accuracy review of marketing presentations and framework decks
- Help develop deal tombstones and case studies showcasing Capstone’s transaction expertise
- Draft client-facing communications, outreach emails, and follow-up correspondence
Collaboration & Team Support
- Work cross-functionally with deal teams, senior BD staff, and junior analysts to support firm-wide initiatives
- Share knowledge and best practices with junior team members in an informal, collaborative capacity
- Contribute ideas for improving BD workflows and operational efficiency
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in business development or client relationship management in the financial services space
- Experience supporting client relationships and contributing to revenue generation or business development efforts
- Prior experience working with CRM systems and data workflows in a professional setting
Technical Proficiencies
- Expert-level proficiency in Salesforce or comparable CRM platform
- Strong command of PitchBook, MergerMarket, and financial databases
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; comfort with data analysis and presentation development
- Familiarity with AI-powered productivity tools and automation workflows
