Position Summary
We are seeking a driven Mid-Level Project Engineer to lead and support capital and plant improvement projects at the facility. This role is responsible for managing projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective execution in a highly regulated industrial environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects within chemical operation setting and be comfortable working in a fast-paced plant environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead capital and expense projects from concept development through startup and closeout.
- Develop project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, maintenance, operations, and SHE departments to ensure successful project execution.
- Review and update P&IDs, process flow diagrams (PFDs), motor control center (MCC) drawings, layout drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Redline wiring & block diagrams, create scopes of work (SOW), solicit and review proposals.
- Review of instrument control narratives at a high level and coordinate with onsite I&C resources.
- Participate in HAZOPs, Management of Change (MOC), and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
- Ensure compliance with company standards, environmental regulations, and safety policies.
- Manage contractors and vendors during installation, construction, and commissioning.
- Track project budgets, timelines, and deliverables; provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks.
- Support plant reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in planning and executing plant outages or turnarounds as required.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- 5–8 years of experience in petroleum or chemical plant environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing capital projects involving electrical power distribution, motors and switch gears in a plant setting.
- Strong understanding of process systems and industrial equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, and technical specifications.
- Experience overseeing contractors and field installations.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with specifying electrical equipment in an industrial setting
- Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) environments.
- Experience supporting plant turnarounds or shutdowns.
