Payroll & Tax Manager

We’re partnering with a growing organization to hire a Payroll & Tax Manager to lead and optimize payroll operations. This is a hands-on role overseeing end-to-end, multi-state payroll while helping strengthen processes, controls, and system capabilities—especially as the team moves toward a Workday implementation.

What you’ll do:

• Own full-cycle payroll processing (1,500–5,000 employees)
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
• Manage audits, tax filings, and year-end reporting (W-2s, etc.)
• Partner with HR & Finance on payroll accounting, reporting, and operations
• Strengthen internal controls, improve processes, and identify gaps
• Support and mentor a small payroll team
• Play a key role in HRIS optimization and Workday implementation

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax, wage & hour laws, and compliance
• Experience with both Workday and UKG (required)
• Experience with UKG or other HRIS platforms (nice to have)
• Detail-oriented with strong audit and internal controls mindset
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
