The Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Legal Assistant / Paralegal Hybrid to join our Hamilton, MA team. This is a dual-function role designed for a legal professional who enjoys the "best of both worlds"—managing high-level administrative tasks while also performing substantive paralegal work to support our attorneys through all phases of the litigation lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Substantive Paralegal Support: Draft and prepare legal documents including motions, pleadings, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Case Management: Utilize electronic case management systems to maintain file integrity, track deadlines, and manage a file diary system.
  • Litigation Support: Coordinate depositions, defense medical exams (DMEs), and expert witness meetings.
  • Administrative Excellence: Manage attorney calendars, handle court filings (state and federal e-filing), and maintain professional communication with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel.
  • Trial Prep: Assist in the preparation of trial exhibits, notebooks, and subpoenas.
  • Experience with MA, NH, & ME practice and courts


Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in Insurance Defense or civil litigation.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with legal case management software.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Connecticut Practice Book rules and state/federal e-filing procedures.
  • Communication: Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with insurance adjusters and corporate clients.
  • Attributes: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
