Position Summary

The Operations Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities within a large-scale industrial manufacturing environment. This position serves as the primary liaison between operations and maintenance teams to ensure work is prioritized, planned, scheduled, and executed safely and efficiently while minimizing operational disruptions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and prioritize maintenance work requests, including emergency and unplanned work, based on operational requirements and business priorities.
  • Evaluate maintenance requests and determine appropriate actions, approvals, and resource allocation.
  • Identify work that can be completed by operations personnel versus maintenance personnel.
  • Coordinate maintenance execution activities between operations, maintenance, and support functions.
  • Determine equipment availability requirements and whether maintenance activities require operational downtime.
  • Adjust work priorities as necessary to accommodate urgent maintenance needs and changing operational conditions.
  • Coordinate housekeeping, equipment access, and site preparation required for maintenance activities.
  • Ensure proper implementation of equipment isolation, lockout/tagout, and safety procedures.
  • Coordinate permits and safety requirements associated with maintenance work, including specialized tasks and restricted-access work areas.
  • Work closely with planners, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to manage backlog activities and prepare work for scheduling.
  • Collaborate with operations leadership and maintenance teams to optimize work schedules and resource utilization.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on maintenance efficiency, reliability, and equipment performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent manufacturing operations experience.
  • Experience working within a complex manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities across multiple departments and stakeholder groups.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and establish credibility across all levels of the organization.
  • Effective organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Leadership experience or demonstrated ability to influence teams without direct supervisory authority is preferred.
  • Proficiency with maintenance management systems and standard business software applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in both office and industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands.
  • Occasional lifting and movement of materials or equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely navigate active manufacturing and maintenance work areas.
  • Visual abilities sufficient to inspect equipment, review documentation, and perform job duties safely.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing facility settings.
  • Exposure to noise, moving equipment, varying temperatures, humidity, and other industrial conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to elevated work areas, confined spaces, airborne particulates, and mechanical equipment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment may be required.
