Job Title: Mechanical Helper

Job Description

This role supports the installation of a custom-designed, mechanized conveyor system in an industrial warehouse environment. You will use your mechanical and construction experience to move, assemble, dismantle, and install machinery and conveyor components while working from technical blueprints and at elevated heights.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation of a custom mechanized conveyor system in an industrial facility.
  • Move, assemble, dismantle, and install machinery and conveyor components according to project requirements.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and assembly blueprints to complete tasks accurately.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and steel assembly techniques to build and secure conveyor parts.
  • Operate or work from scissor lifts and other access equipment to perform work at heights up to three stories.
  • Follow detailed assembly instructions to ensure conveyor parts are correctly aligned and securely installed.
  • Maintain and use your own tools safely and efficiently throughout the project.
  • Work safely at heights and in an active construction environment, following all site safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with skilled trades workers such as millwrights, carpenters, HVAC technicians, repair technicians, and automotive or diesel technicians to complete project milestones.
  • Adhere to the project schedule, including extended daily hours and consecutive workdays, to support on-time completion.

Essential Skills

  • 2–3+ years of construction or closely related mechanical experience.
  • Proven experience moving, assembling, dismantling, or installing machinery or conveyor systems.
  • Ability to read and execute work from technical drawings and assembly prints.
  • Comfort working at heights up to three stories, including while using a scissor lift.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in mechanical and construction work.
  • Experience with steel assembly and related mechanical installation tasks.
  • Ability to provide and effectively use a personal set of tools required for the work.
  • Capacity to work 10-hour shifts with an additional 1-hour lunch period on a project-based schedule.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a skilled trade such as millwright, carpentry, HVAC technician, repair technician, or automotive/diesel technician.
  • Previous experience assembling conveyor parts or working on mechanized systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team of skilled trades workers.
  • Comfort with physically demanding tasks in an industrial construction environment.
  • Reliable work habits and the ability to follow structured project schedules.

Work Environment

Work takes place inside an industrial warehouse facility, specifically within a large plant environment. The role involves working on a mechanized conveyor system installation using hand tools, power tools, and scissor lifts, often at heights up to three stories. You will work 10-hour shifts with an additional 1-hour lunch, following a schedule of 10 days on, 1 day off, then 10 days on, followed by 9 days off. The project is expected to continue until April 2025. The environment is active and construction-focused, with a strong emphasis on safety and the proper use of tools and equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
