Job Title: Construction Laborer / Rigger – Crane Helper (Data Center Project)

Job Description

This role supports crane operations on a large-scale data center construction project in Wyoming, with a primary focus on rigging and setting electrical switchgear, cabinets, and related equipment. You will work closely with crane operators and site crews to safely move heavy loads, perform hands-on construction labor, and maintain a strong safety culture in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, select, and assemble rigging equipment such as slings, chains, chokers, shackles, spreader bars, and hoists to prepare for safe lifting operations.
• Assist crane operators with rigging and setting electrical switchgear, cabinets, and other electrical equipment according to site plans and instructions.
• Safely connect, position, and guide loads during lifts, maintaining control and clear communication throughout each operation.
• Secure loads and attach rigging using appropriate methods to ensure safe lifting, movement, and placement of materials and equipment.
• Communicate clearly with crane operators and team members using voice, standardized hand signals, and radio communication to coordinate lifts and movements.
• Assist with equipment spotting, including positioning cranes and other machinery safely within the work area.
• Support lift planning by helping identify rigging needs, load paths, and potential hazards around the work zone.
• Contribute to onsite logistics by helping move materials, organize equipment, and maintain an orderly work area.
• Perform general construction labor tasks as needed, including physical work with tools and materials in an active jobsite environment.
• Follow all safety procedures and site rules, maintaining high situational awareness around heavy equipment and suspended loads.
• Take direction from supervisors and experienced riggers, apply feedback, and ask questions to ensure proper rigging techniques are followed.
• Collaborate effectively with the crew, supporting a team-oriented environment and contributing to a positive jobsite culture.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience in construction, oil field, landscaping, farm work, or mechanical work.
• Construction OSHA 10 certification.
• Comfort working in a general labor and construction environment with mechanical tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs regularly and perform hard physical labor throughout long shifts.
• Comfort with long work hours and hands-on tasks, including working in dirty or dusty conditions.
• Ability to work at heights and around heavy equipment safely.
• Ability to work in varying outdoor weather conditions.
• Strong communication skills for clear coordination with crane operators and team members.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a coordinated team.
• Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime or travel when required.
• High attention to safety and situational awareness in an active construction zone.
• Ability to take feedback well and follow direction consistently.
• Willingness to ask questions and learn proper rigging techniques.

• Prior rigging or crane support experience preferred but not required.
• Comfortable giving and receiving feedback in a team environment.
• Enjoys the camaraderie and teamwork common on construction and crane crews.
• Mechanical aptitude or experience that supports understanding of tools, equipment, and rigging components.

Work Environment

This position is based on a large data center construction project in Wyoming, working in and around cranes, heavy equipment, and electrical switchgear installations. The schedule runs Monday through Friday with 12-hour days, typically totaling 60–65 hours per week, on a 6‑month contract with potential to transition to a longer-term opportunity if you are open to travel. The work takes place outdoors in varying weather conditions and at heights, requiring comfort with exposure to the elements and an active, sometimes dirty construction setting. You will handle heavy materials, use rigging equipment such as slings, chains, chokers, shackles, spreader bars, and hoists, and spend most of the day on your feet performing physically demanding tasks in standard construction attire and appropriate personal protective equipment.

This is a Contract position based out of Cheyenne, WY.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Cheyenne,WY.
