Job Title: Pre-Finish Production Operator
Job Description

This role works in the Pre-Finish Department, serving as the final quality checkpoint for finished millwork products such as painted and stained doors, trim, and railings. Positioned at the out-feed end of the lineal spray line, you ensure only top-quality material moves forward to packaging and downstream operations by performing careful visual inspections, handling products with care, and maintaining accurate production documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the final quality checkpoint for finished millwork products at the out-feed end of the lineal spray line.
  • Visually inspect every piece of trim and railing for finish defects such as runs, dry spots, and debris as it exits the oven.
  • Communicate immediately with the line lead regarding any recurring finish issues to help prevent scrap and maintain quality standards.
  • Carefully off-load and stack 16-foot products onto drying racks or pallets without marring or damaging the finish.
  • Assist with general labor tasks in the Pre-Finish Department as needed to support production flow.
  • Perform paint preparation and general production activities related to the finishing process.
  • Operate spray line and related machinery safely and efficiently as required.
  • Track and document daily piece counts and reject rates for the line to support production reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety and quality procedures.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to perform detailed visual inspection of finished wood products for defects such as runs, dry spots, and debris.
  • Capability to handle and stack long (16-foot) millwork products carefully without damaging the finish.
  • Strong communication skills to promptly alert the lead about recurring finish or quality issues.
  • Basic ability to perform general labor and production tasks in a manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort working around paint, stain, and spray line equipment in a wood shop environment.
  • Reliability in tracking and recording daily piece counts and reject rates accurately.
  • Ability to follow established safety, quality, and production procedures consistently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with quality inspection in a manufacturing or wood shop environment.
  • Background in general production, paint preparation, or finishing work.
  • Familiarity with sprayer operation and machine operating in a production setting.
  • Ability to work effectively under the guidance of working supervisors on the floor.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing top-quality finished products.
  • Physical ability to stand for the majority of the shift and handle long, finished materials safely.

Work Environment

The role is based in a brand-new, clean, and organized wood shop environment with a lineal spray line and related finishing equipment. You will work alongside working supervisors who remain active on the floor and engaged in day-to-day operations. The standard schedule runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and includes a lunch period led by the team and two 15-minute breaks. The environment focuses on safety, quality, and efficiency while handling painted and stained millwork products in a professional production setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Elk River, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00/hr.
