Job Description

The Assembly Operator manufactures cable assemblies by operating production equipment, completing required documentation, and performing inspections to ensure high-quality finished products. This role is ideal for individuals seeking an entry-level opportunity in manufacturing with exposure to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and medical device production.

Responsibilities

  • Operate lathes, welders, presses, grinders, cable cutters, swagers, packaging equipment, and other machinery required to manufacture cable assemblies.
  • Assemble cables and related components according to job card instructions and established procedures.
  • Complete job cards, routers, and all required job documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain full material traceability by recording material usage for each job and ensuring documentation is complete and legible.
  • Monitor assembled parts through visual and tactile inspection to verify workmanship and adherence to specifications.
  • Perform proof-loading of assembled parts to confirm they meet strength and performance requirements.
  • Gather start-up and in-process samples for testing and inspection, following established quality procedures.
  • Package and label processed materials in accordance with job card instructions and quality standards.
  • Conduct visual inspection of completed products to identify defects or nonconformances.
  • Report part or process quality issues promptly to a supervisor or quality personnel for resolution.
  • Follow good documentation practices when recording production, inspection, and material usage information.
  • Support troubleshooting of manufacturing defects by identifying potential root causes and contributing to corrective actions.
  • Work effectively on the assembly line and in production and packaging areas to meet daily output and quality goals.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and GMP requirements while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred, especially in assembly, production, or packaging environments.
  • Experience with cable assembly or assembling cables is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with visual inspection of completed products in a production setting.
  • Interest in learning and following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), particularly in a medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to work on different shifts and support overtime as needed based on production requirements.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allendale, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
