OVERVIEW
We are seeking a creative and passionate Junior Designer to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Designer, The Junior Designer will create on trend, engaging designs for our customers. We are looking for someone with strong understanding of trend forecasting, color theory, print design and typography. Photography skills are a plus. Attention to detail and time management skills are a must. The ideal candidate will be able to react quickly to trends and implement such trends through our products and packaging.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Instrumental in the creation of seasonal design direction; color, print, pattern and mood direction for our customer specific lines.
•Work with the Senior Designer to design fresh, innovative, trend-led pitches that are in line with the business strategy.
•Review samples from vendors against artwork files and provide comments.
•Assist with trade shows and catalog as needed.
•Prepare customer mock samples including mock packaging assembled by hand for pitch meetings. Ship mocks along with reference samples as needed.
•Attend brainstorming sessions to assist in creating strategic and creative line lists for core and seasonal development.
•Ensure a full understanding of our internal critical path, ensuring adherence to hit all key dates and milestones.
•Proactively analyze the global market for design trends. Monitor blogs, vlogs, podcasts, retailers, social media etc for the latest in design and creative trends.
•Carry out basic in-house photography (equipment supplied)
•Be able to prioritize and reprioritize based on the ever-changing needs of the business.
•Be proactive, not reactive.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design or Design Related Field
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite with a focus on Illustrator, Photoshop and In Design.
• Experience in a similar role for 1+ years
• Experience in graphic, product or packaging design for both hard & soft goods.
• Organization, time management and attention to detail are a must
• Team-player with a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn
