What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, and drafters while mentoring junior team members
  • Perform building system assessments, document existing conditions, and prepare reports with refurbishment or replacement recommendations
  • Develop scopes of work for mechanical system designs
  • Present mechanical design concepts, challenges, and solutions clearly to owners and project teams
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation analysis, and mechanical equipment selection
  • Design HVAC systems using BIM tools, including layouts and system visualization
  • Integrate sustainability strategies and best practices into building designs
  • Ensure designs meet client expectations, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare probable construction cost estimates for mechanical systems
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and internal disciplines
  • Research emerging technologies, products, and mechanical systems
  • Compile system specifications, schedules, and construction details
  • Perform field observations and verify adherence to design intent


What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4+ years of mechanical design experience for buildings in healthcare, education, community, or commercial markets
  • Designer of Engineering Systems (DES) credential or Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • LEED accreditation preferred
  • Demonstrated project experience with a strong technical portfolio
  • Experience with Revit, BIM software, and Bluebeam preferred
  • Experience with Carrier Hourly Analysis preferred, but not required
