Position Overview

We are a growing small-to-midsize company in the construction industry seeking a detail-oriented and experienced HR / Payroll Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for processing in-house payroll and core HR functions. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical payroll expertise, experience within the construction industry and an understanding of job costing, and a solid understanding of multi-state payroll compliance.


This position plays a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, and smooth HR operations across our organization.


Key Responsibilities


Payroll Administration

  • Process accurate and timely in-house payroll for approximately 50–100 employees biweekly
  • Maintain payroll records, deductions, garnishments, and benefits
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and other compensation adjustments
  • Ensure proper job costing and payroll allocations between office locations and departments
  • Manage direct deposits, payroll and tax reconciliations, and payroll adjustments
  • Assist with general ledger accuracy of payroll accounts and liabilities


Tax & Compliance

  • Maintain strong working knowledge of state payroll taxes and employment laws in:
  • Georgia
  • South Carolina
  • North Carolina
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Prepare, reconcile, and finalize all quarterly and annual payroll tax and payroll filings for federal and state, including 941s & W-2 forms
  • Respond to payroll tax notices and resolve discrepancies as needed
  • Ensure compliance with prevailing wage requirements, including Davis-Bacon regulations for any required certified payroll submissions
  • Support yearly insurance and financial audits


Human Resources

· Complete employee onboarding and offboarding

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee personnel files

· Maintain and update OSHA logs and ensure workplace safety reporting compliance

· Benefits administration and related reporting

· Serve as a point of contact for all payroll and HR-related employee inquiries

· Maintain compliance with employment laws

· Manage and track employee office equipment

· Implementing and executing company policies and an employee handbook

· Tracking employee PTO and company holidays

· Assisting with the implementation of and integration of future HR/Payroll software


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of in-house payroll processing experience
  • Proven experience managing payroll for companies with 50+ employees
  • Experience within the construction industry strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of federal payroll regulations and multi-state compliance
  • Experience with Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina payroll taxes and laws
  • Experience preparing quarterly and annual payroll reports, including W-2 processing
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality



Compensation

  • Salary: 60-70k
  • Cell Phone Allowance: $70/month
  • Health Insurance: 100% Company Paid Health Insurance for Employee

  • Bonus: Up to 10% Yearly Bonus
