Role Overview
The General Manager – Warehouse & Distribution will serve as the senior operational leader of our Dallas facility. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role responsible for establishing, scaling, and running all aspects of the B2B distribution centre. The GM will drive operational excellence, build and develop a high-performing team, manage full P&L accountability, and forge strong vendor and client partnerships to support the company's ambitious growth targets in the North American market.
Key Responsibilities
1. Warehouse Operations & Facility Management
- Lead all day-to-day warehouse operations including inbound receiving, inventory management, order fulfilment, outbound dispatch, and logistics coordination.
- Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the new facility, ensuring compliance with US regulatory, OSHA safety, and company standards from day one.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in warehouse layout, workflow efficiency, throughput, and order accuracy rates.
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimisation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and operational technology.
- Ensure the facility operates at peak efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and quality.
2. Team Leadership & People Management
- Build the warehouse team from the ground up — leading recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of all warehouse staff, supervisors, and functional leads.
- Create a positive, performance-oriented culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
- Set clear KPIs and performance targets; conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship.
- Manage workforce planning, scheduling, and labour allocation to meet operational demands and seasonal fluctuations.
- Ensure compliance with all US employment laws, HR policies, and company guidelines.
3. P&L Management & Financial Oversight
- Own full P&L responsibility for the Dallas distribution centre, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting to the MD.
- Develop and manage the annual operational budget; identify and implement cost reduction and efficiency improvements without compromising service quality.
- Monitor key financial metrics (cost per unit, labour costs, overheads, inventory shrinkage) and present regular performance reports to senior leadership.
- Drive revenue-supporting activities by ensuring the facility scales efficiently to meet growing B2B client demand.
- Build business cases for capital investments, facility improvements, and technology upgrades.
4. Vendor & Supplier Relationship Management
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, freight carriers, suppliers, and service vendors to ensure cost-effective, reliable supply chain operations.
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements with vendors and carriers; monitor performance against SLAs and take corrective action where required.
- Collaborate with global procurement and supply chain teams to align vendor strategies with company-wide objectives.
- Develop and maintain a vendor scorecard system to track performance, cost efficiency, and reliability.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a strong advantage.
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in warehouse operations and B2B distribution, with at least 5 years in a senior or general management role.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale distribution facilities (50,000+ sq ft preferred) with a significant B2B customer base.
- Strong P&L management experience with proven ability to manage multi-million dollar operational budgets.
- Hands-on experience with WMS platforms (e.g., INFOR, SAP, Manhattan, Oracle WMS) and proficiency in MS Office and reporting tools.
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Deep knowledge of US logistics regulations, OSHA safety standards, and US employment law.
- Experience in greenfield or start-up warehouse operations is a significant advantage.
