Family Law Attorney

Jones Barnes, P.C.
San Diego, CA

Family Law Attorney Position:

Jones Barnes, PC is growing and we are currently seeking to add another associate attorney to our team. A little about us, we are a boutique law firm with a relaxed atmosphere. We do our best for each client and try to limit the number of cases we accept to ensure we are not overloaded. We genuinely love the people we work with and each member of our “firm family” contributes something unique and special to our process. We are located on the 22nd floor of the Wells Fargo building in downtown San Diego (office with a view).

What your job would entail: You will have a variety of options based on your experience and preferences. Your primary work would entail assisting Julie with cases including drafting pleadings, interacting with clients, tracking case status, and making appearances if and when necessary at FRCs. Other solo court appearances will be based on your preference and comfort level. You will be assisting Julie with trials and evidentiary hearings including attending trial with her if and when necessary. Your participation at trial will also be based on your preference and comfort level. Beyond this basic work, you have the option to retain and work your own cases as well. There are no strict requirements as to billable hours and/or cases maintained. We are strong believers that if you have a good work ethic, your work product will speak for itself without the need to work under the pressure of minimum billable time constraints. We offer the opportunity to learn and grow at your pace and try to avoid you ever feeling uncomfortable with the task laid before you. We also have a variety of experience and knowledge in the office and have an “open door” policy so you never feel as though you are left alone to figure things out.

If we sound like a good fit for you, we are looking for the following: First and foremost, an easy going personality and positive outlook on what we do. Beyond this, we would prefer someone who has at least 3 years of family law experience particularly relating to drafting pleadings, discovery, client interaction, and law and motion work. Although you will not be required to handle trials and/or evidentiary hearings on your own unless you are comfortable doing so, some familiarity and comfort level with the courtroom would be ideal.

What we offer: We offer a base salary (amount subject to experience) with the opportunity for bonuses. We offer health insurance benefits, 401k options, paid time off, and paid parking.
