Job Description

The Electronics Calibration Technician runs customer equipment and instruments through automated tests, reviews and analyzes test data, and supports accurate repair and calibration of test, measurement, and diagnostic instrumentation. This role focuses on identifying product failures, escalating complex issues to specialized teams, and maintaining precise documentation to ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Run customer equipment and instruments through automated test systems to verify functionality and performance.
  • Review and interpret test data outputs to identify anomalies, trends, and potential product failures.
  • Analyze test results to determine the root cause and location of failures at both modular and component levels.
  • Escalate unusual, complex, or unresolved product issues to repair technicians, engineering, or specialized support groups.
  • Communicate repair trends, recurring product failures, and systemic issues to appropriate teams to support continuous improvement and product quality.
  • Complete calibration data sheets and records with a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Maintain and update documentation related to customer requirements, quality records, ISO compliance, and internal reporting systems.
  • Adhere to all Quality Management System (QMS) policies, procedures, and work instructions during testing and calibration activities.
  • Perform both routine and complex tasks related to the repair and calibration of test, measurement, and diagnostic instrumentation.
  • Work on instruments returned for factory service, performing troubleshooting from modular assemblies down to component-level diagnostics as needed.
  • Use appropriate test and measurement equipment, such as oscilloscopes and other instrumentation, to verify performance and support troubleshooting.
  • Follow established calibration procedures and best practices to ensure accurate, reliable, and repeatable test results.
  • Collaborate with team members to share knowledge, support problem-solving, and maintain a high standard of workmanship.
  • Support a safe and organized manufacturing environment by following established safety and housekeeping guidelines.

Essential Skills

  • On-the-job electronics training with practical experience working on electronic equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electronic fundamentals, including basic circuits, components, and signal behavior.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Hands-on diagnostic experience with electronic systems and components.
  • Ability to run products through automated test equipment and follow established test procedures.
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing test data outputs to identify failures and performance issues.
  • Capability to perform instrumentation calibration and use test and measurement equipment effectively.
  • Familiarity with electronics manufacturing, electronics testing, and electronics troubleshooting processes.
  • Experience using tools such as oscilloscopes, soldering equipment, and basic hand tools for assembly and repair.
  • Ability to follow blueprints, technical drawings, and documentation related to electronic assemblies and PCBs.
  • Coachable attitude with a willingness to learn new procedures, technologies, and tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing calibration data sheets and quality records.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) policies and ISO-related documentation requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Military electronics training is a plus.
  • Formal training or education in electronics is preferred.
  • Experience with instrumentation calibration in a manufacturing or service environment is beneficial.
  • Experience in electronics assembly, PCB work, and mechanical assembly is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with measurement equipment and test equipment used in electronic diagnostics.
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical documentation, including blueprints and detailed test procedures.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey findings, trends, and issues to cross-functional teams.
  • Comfort working with both routine and complex repairs, including modular and component-level troubleshooting.
  • Semiconductor-focused or IT-only experience is not ideal for this role.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing environment working with test, measurement, and diagnostic instrumentation. You will work an 8-hour shift with a flexible start time between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., providing some flexibility in scheduling. The role involves hands-on work with electronic equipment, automated test systems, oscilloscopes, soldering tools, PCBs, and other measurement and calibration instruments at a dedicated workstation or lab area. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to documented procedures and quality standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beaverton, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
