Job Description

The Test Technician supports and maintains test systems used to verify consumer electronics on a production line. This role focuses on troubleshooting hardware and software issues, implementing improvements, and ensuring that test equipment operates reliably and accurately. The position involves hands-on work with test equipment, basic electronics, and engineering documentation in a climate-controlled repair facility.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain test systems used for testing consumer electronics on the production line.
  • Troubleshoot test systems, identify root causes of issues, and implement effective resolutions.
  • Analyze technical requirements and effort associated with test systems and products to support production needs.
  • Generate engineering documents, including schematics, diagnostics, flowcharts, and project status reports.
  • Configure and calibrate test systems to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
  • Monitor tester performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability, throughput, and accuracy.
  • Report software bugs to the development team with clear and detailed documentation.
  • Implement new software into test systems and upgrade software and hardware as needed.
  • Perform repair, assembly, and troubleshooting tasks using appropriate hand tools and test equipment.
  • Use oscilloscopes, soldering tools, and other test equipment to diagnose and resolve electronic issues.
  • Work with test equipment and calibration processes to maintain equipment performance within specifications.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and interact professionally with customers in written and verbal communications.
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining accurate records and documentation of work performed.

Essential Skills

  • Associate degree or equivalent education in a technical discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and electronics principles.
  • 0–2 years of experience in test engineering and production shop floor environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot test systems and identify root causes of technical problems.
  • Ability to generate and interpret engineering documents such as schematics, diagnostics, and flowcharts.
  • Basic knowledge of C, C#, C++, Python, JTAG, CLI, or Linux applications.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills to manage tasks and documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a production environment.
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers in written and verbal communications.
  • Hands-on skills in repair, assembly, and troubleshooting using hand tools.
  • Ability to work with test equipment, oscilloscopes, and calibration processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Understanding of Android and iOS phone testing is a plus.
  • Experience with electronics, electrical systems, and schematic reading.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, soldering tools, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Familiarity with calibration procedures for test equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to solving engineering problems.
  • Comfort working with mechanical aspects of assemblies in addition to electronics.

You will work in a hands-on technical environment with test systems for consumer electronics, using tools such as oscilloscopes, soldering equipment, hand tools, and various test and calibration instruments. The setting is production-oriented, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and maintaining equipment in optimal condition. Attire is appropriate for a technical, electronics repair and test environment, supporting both bench work and interaction with production staff.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $25.00/hr.
