Electrical Drafter/CAD Technician

Job Summary

We are currently seeking an Electrical Drafter/CAD Technician primarily with Substation experience or related. The Electrical Drafter/CAD Technician supports the electrical design team by assisting with plan, preparation, and producing non-routine drawings that may include complex features. Work is completed using information from rough sketches, detailed engineering notes, or brief verbal guidance. This position supports a variety of projects across a diverse client portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with a full range of drawing production tasks.
  • Produce project deliverables efficiently and with attention to budget.
  • Support CAD drawing production and overall project execution.
  • Print, scan, compile, and submit drawing packages.
  • Maintain CAD proficiency and working knowledge of current CAD systems.
  • Use multiple software applications as needed to complete deliverables.
  • Train, mentor, and develop staff, as assigned.
  • Review and follow project scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Support resource management and workload planning.
  • Identify priority tasks and implement execution plans.
  • Communicate workload, progress, and constraints with the team and management.
  • Maintain and apply client and company CAD standards.
  • Provide quality feedback on work products and deliverables.
  • Assist with QA/QC reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Education & Experience Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in drafting technology (or related field) and 2 years of related experience; or
    • Associate degree and 3 years of related experience; or
    • High school diploma/GED and 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
  • Basic understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel to develop design deliverables; ability to learn and use new design tools.
  • Ability to use both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of design, calculations, and design systems.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering discipline theory and practices; understanding of fundamental concepts of related disciplines as they apply to the assigned work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers in a multi-discipline environment to resolve design or drawing issues and meet project objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maitland, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
