About the Position
This role is being filled as either an Assistant Director or Deputy Director of Policy. The appointment level and corresponding salary will be determined based on the successful applicant’s depth of expertise and years of relevant experience.
As a member of the New York Executive Chamber, the Assistant or Deputy Director of Policy serves under the Director of Policy, and is charged with driving the development of the Governor’s policy agenda. This includes creatively developing original policy ideas that are responsive to the needs of New Yorkers, directly advising the Governor and Senior Staff on various issues, contributing to the development of the Governor’s yearly State of the State address, policy agenda, and accompanying Budget, supporting the Governor’s Policy Director in defining the policy agenda for the State, supporting the implementation of priority policy initiatives with state agencies, and supporting issue campaigns. The Assistant or Deputy Director for Policy will be expected to work across diverse issue areas and be able to match expertise on specific areas of focus with a wide-angle perspective on New York’s policy landscape.
The Assistant or Deputy Director of Policy works in close coordination with the Executive Chamber Policy team, Operations team, and Communications team.
This position is 100% onsite at our office in either Albany, NY or New York City, NY.

Minimum Qualifications
Assistant Director of Policy: Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of full-time, professional experience with a focus on public administration, public policy development, or related topics. Deputy Director of Policy: Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of full-time, professional experience with a focus on public administration, public policy development, or related topics.
Employment with the New York State Executive Chamber is contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation.

Salary Ranges
Assistant Director: $130,000-$150,000
Deputy Director: $170,000-$190,000
