Position

Pottstown Beacon of Hope is looking for a talented Development Director to join the team full-time. The Development Director will lead the creation and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with PBOH’s growth, including the transition to a year-round facility and expanded services.


Job Description

This role is responsible for building the systems, relationships, and infrastructure necessary to sustain long-term philanthropic support. The Development Director will oversee all aspects of fundraising, including major gifts, grants, events, and annual giving, with a focus on developing a scalable and diversified funding model that supports organizational sustainability.


Essential Functions

Major Gifts and Institutional Giving (50%)

· Manage a portfolio of 25+ major individual donors, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts through regular engagement

· Build and manage relationships with corporate partners and sponsors, including proposal development and stewardship

· Strengthen Board engagement in fundraising, coaching members to support introductions, solicitations, and stewardship

· Expand participation in tax credit programs (e.g., EITC)

· Cultivate and solicit foundation and grant support, growing institutional funding streams

· Identify and develop new funding opportunities aligned with PBOH’s mission and growth

· Establish and support a Development Committee of volunteers and community members to expand fundraising reach and networks


Events and Community-Based Fundraising (30%)

· Plan and oversee all fundraising events, including annual and special events

· Ensure events are mission-aligned, financially effective, and strategically leveraged for donor engagement

· Maintain a focus on net revenue, relationship building, and community visibility

· Develop and refine event planning processes and best practices

· Partner with staff and volunteers to ensure strong execution and follow-up


Annual Campaign and Donor Engagement (10%)

· Lead the annual campaign strategy in partnership with the CEO and Board

· Develop accessible giving opportunities for a range of donors

· Coordinate Board giving efforts and participation

· Implement consistent donor communication and stewardship practices


Administration and Systems (10%)

· Support development of annual fundraising revenue projections and goals

· Maintain accurate records in CRM systems and ensure data integrity

· Partner with finance to align fundraising reporting with organizational financial practices

· Contribute to the creation of an Annual Report, highlighting impact, donor support, and financial overview

· Establish and document fundraising processes and best practices to support organizational growth


Role-Specific Requirements

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in fundraising, development, or advancement

· Experience with major gifts, grant writing, and donor cultivation

· Familiarity with CRM systems and donor tracking tools

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

· Experience with Canva or similar tools for fundraising materials preferred

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

· Self-starter with the ability to build systems and processes

· Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and donor engagement

Location

This position will be based at Pottstown Beacon of Hope's office location.
