Job Description

Join a dynamic steel distribution center where you will be integral in shipping and cutting metal coils for customers. Gain comprehensive knowledge of warehouse operations, including cutting, operating overhead cranes, skid building, packaging, and machine operation. Operate overhead cranes, sit-down industrial forklifts, and use saws and cutting mechanisms for coils. Learn all aspects of receiving and shipping steel products, read work orders, and perform housekeeping duties. Start each day with production goals to process, cut, package, QC, and bundle products for shipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate overhead cranes and sit-down industrial forklifts.
• Utilize saws and cutting mechanisms for metal coils.
• Learn every aspect of receiving and shipping steel products.
• Read and interpret work orders.
• Perform all housekeeping duties and maintain a clean work environment.
• Start the day with production goals for processing, cutting, packaging, QC, and bundling products.
• Be flexible and adaptable to all assigned duties.

Essential Skills

• Material handling experience.
• Proficiency in using tape measures and performing measurements.
• 2+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience in steel manufacturing.
• Ability to operate cranes and forklifts.
• RF scanner proficiency.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Warehouse experience in a heavy industrial environment.
• Attention to detail for QC of metal products.
• Experience in building skids.
• Forklift experience is required, and overhead crane experience is a plus.

Work Environment

Work in a steel distribution center with temperature control, where conditions can be dirty and physical. Enjoy a structured schedule with first shift hours from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and second shift hours from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Flexibility is required for training during mid-shift from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin Park, IL.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Franklin Park,IL.
