Corporate Controller (Real Estate)

Pridestaff Financial is seeking a leader for aa premier, privately held real estate investment organization managing a growing portfolio of 90+ properties across 35+ legal entities. Due to significant growth, client is carving out a newly created Corporate Controller role to serve as the accounting anchor for the organization.
Reporting to the CFO, you will own the accounting function end-to-end, allowing the CFO to focus on high-level strategy. This is a hands-on, "roll-up-your-sleeves" leadership position designed for a professional who enjoys bringing order to complexity and building a scalable, institutional-grade finance department.
Top Priorities (First 90 Days)ERP Optimization: Lead the final stages of the migration from Spectra to Yardi Voyager, driving data hygiene and clearing the reconciliation backlog.
Operational Stability: Establish a predictable monthly close cadence and implement rigorous reconciliation discipline across dozens of bank accounts and entities.
Outsourced Management: Assume full ownership of the outsourced AP/AR relationship, defining SLAs and quality standards to ensure transactional accuracy.
Multi-Entity Accounting: Manage the full accounting cycle for 35+ entities. Bridge the gap between current Income Tax basis reporting and the future goal of GAAP-ready investor financials.
Treasury & Banking: Oversee complex cash management across multiple institutions,managing dozens of operating and reserve accounts.
Internal Controls: Modernize outdated workflows and design robust control frameworks to support a lean in-house team and an outsourced transactional model.
Property Accounting: Oversight of tenant rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, and CapEx tracking for a diverse real estate portfolio.
Leadership: Directly manage a small in-house team of staff accountants while providing functional oversight of outsourced partners.
Experience: 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a Controller or senior leadership role.
Industry Expertise: Proven track record in Real Estate or Property Management with deep experience in multi-entity consolidations and intercompany accounting.
Systems Proficiency: Yardi Voyager expertise is essential; experience leading a system migration or "cleanup" is a significant plus.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA (active or inactive) is strongly preferred.
Technical Versatility: Fluency in both Income Tax basis and GAAP reporting.
Base Salary: $150,000 – $185,000 (DOE).
Bonus: Performance-based incentive opportunity.
