Arkansas Talent Group is partnering with a well-known Commercial Real Estate to identify an experienced Assistant Controller to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a broad role with responsibilities spanning financial reporting, month-end close, general ledger oversight, internal controls, and support of day-to-day accounting operations.


Role Overview

The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in overseeing the company's accounting operations and financial reporting processes. This position will play a key role in month-end closing, account reconciliations, journal entries, reporting accuracy, internal controls, and the continued improvement of accounting procedures.

In addition, this role will be responsible for managing banking relationships and serving as a key point of contact with financial institutions as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This person should be able to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively across departments, and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Maintain and analyze the general ledger for accuracy and completeness.
  • Help ensure proper accounting treatment for transactions and adjustments.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Support internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Work closely with the Controller on audits, reporting, and special projects.
  • Review operational activity to help ensure accounting accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with cash management, AP/AR oversight, and other core accounting functions as needed.
  • Manage banking relationships and coordinate with financial institutions regarding accounts, services, and ongoing needs.
  • Provide guidance and support to accounting staff and other departments.
  • Help identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 4 to 7+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or a combination of both is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Experience with Yardi accounting software or similar and ERP systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities with attention to detail.
