ESC has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to support a fast-paced supply chain organization focused on sourcing and purchasing materials, managing supplier relationships, and supporting procurement operations across multiple business pillars in North Reading, MA. This 8-month contract role will support one of several teams within the organization and is ideal for a detail-oriented supply chain professional who thrives in a high-demand environment and enjoys working cross-functionally to keep materials, suppliers, and purchasing processes moving efficiently.
Job Description:
- Purchase materials and equipment from suppliers, including electro-mechanical assemblies, electronic components, PCB assemblies, hardware, and non-inventory items
- Manage supplier relationships and support supplier performance tracking and KPI reporting
- Assist with monthly procurement scorecards and support quarterly business review reporting
- Plan material requirements, monitor inventory levels, and manage schedules within the ERP system
- Communicate purchasing needs, schedule updates, and delivery requirements directly with suppliers
- Identify supply chain material risks and provide visibility into material flow and procurement issues
- Partner with Planning and other internal teams to communicate risks, mitigation plans, and supply updates
- Monitor and update open purchase orders, expedites, and delivery schedules to ensure timely fulfillment
- Support Global Commodity Management initiatives related to supplier performance, sourcing support, and new product/program needs
- Resolve purchase order receiving discrepancies and assist with invoice reconciliation
- Manage supplier returns, including non-conformance reports, return material authorizations, and MRB material processing
- Identify process improvement opportunities and support operational efficiency initiatives across procurement workflows
Must Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 1–4+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, materials planning, or a related function
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience using ERP systems to manage purchasing, procurement, or materials-related workflows
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across teams
Nice to Have Qualifications:
- Experience working with Oracle or similar ERP systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting supplier management, procurement reporting, or inventory planning
- Familiarity with data management, databases, or procurement analytics tools
- Experience purchasing technical, hardware, or manufacturing-related materials
