Position Summary
A growing industrial services and infrastructure company is seeking an experienced Buyer to support procurement operations across multiple business units and locations. This individual will be responsible for sourcing materials and equipment, managing vendor relationships, processing purchase orders, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of products to support operational needs.
The ideal candidate will have strong purchasing experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while identifying opportunities for cost savings, process improvement, and supplier optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, procure, and manage inventory for stock and non-stock materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
- Research products, evaluate alternatives, and recommend cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality standards.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and purchasing terms.
- Monitor and expedite open purchase orders, backorders, and critical deliveries to ensure operational continuity.
- Communicate order status, expected delivery dates, and purchasing updates to internal stakeholders.
- Evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities to improve service, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Maintain accurate product, vendor, pricing, and purchasing records within the ERP system.
- Assist with inventory management initiatives, cycle counts, and physical inventory audits across multiple locations.
- Identify alternate suppliers and sourcing strategies during shortages or supply chain disruptions.
- Create and maintain product descriptions, pricing, and inventory information within SAP.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing, inventory control, and vendor management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of purchasing, procurement, or buying experience within industrial, manufacturing, distribution, construction, energy, or related environments.
- Experience sourcing materials, equipment, parts, or industrial products.
- Strong vendor management and supplier relationship skills.
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience utilizing ERP systems; SAP experience strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
