Buyer – Electromechanical & Power Components (Confidential)

Location: Charlotte, NC (onsite)


We are partnering with a rapidly growing organization in the advanced manufacturing and electrification space to identify a Buyer focused on electromechanical components, magnetics, and electrical interconnects. This is a high-impact role supporting critical hardware where supply assurance, supplier strategy, and cost control are essential.


Position Overview

This role is responsible for sourcing and managing key electrical and power components, ensuring supply continuity, optimizing supplier performance, and supporting new product development initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong commercial acumen with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, technical environment.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing

  • Develop and maintain a robust supplier base for critical power and electrical components
  • Drive dual-sourcing strategies across cables, harnesses, and magnetics
  • Support make-versus-buy decisions and cost optimization efforts


Supplier Management

  • Own relationships with key Tier 1 suppliers
  • Lead quarterly business reviews and track supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality, cost)


Cost & Commercial Ownership

  • Negotiate long-term agreements and volume pricing
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives, including value analysis/value engineering and component standardization


Supply Assurance (Critical Focus)

  • Manage long lead-time components such as power modules and transformers
  • Mitigate supply risk through buffer strategies and safety stock alignment
  • Partner closely with planning and manufacturing teams to prevent disruptions


NPI & Engineering Collaboration

  • Support new product introductions and evolving platforms
  • Source components during design phases and qualify alternate suppliers


Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure supplier certifications and regulatory compliance (UL, ISO, etc.)
  • Partner on resolution of supplier and field quality issues


Qualifications

  • Experience sourcing electromechanical or electrical components
  • Strong background in supplier management and contract negotiation
  • Proven ability to manage long lead-time materials and mitigate supply risk
  • Experience supporting manufacturing environments (high-volume preferred)
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, planning, and operations
