Attorney, Civil Litigation (3 to 5 Years Experience)

We are seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney with 3 to 5 years of experience who wants more than a title and a billing target. What You Will Do

• Manage civil litigation matters through all phases of a case
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and written discovery
• Conduct legal research and help develop case strategy
• Take and defend depositions
• Prepare clients, fact witnesses, and experts for hearings, mediation, and trial
• Appear in court for hearings, motion practice, and related proceedings
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation
• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
• Work closely with partners on litigation strategy and case development

Our matters include business disputes, contract claims, construction-related disputes, real estate-related disputes, and other complex civil litigation.

What We Are Looking For

• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of civil litigation experience
• Experience in business disputes, contract claims, construction-related disputes, and real estate-related disputes is preferred
• Illinois Bar admission in good standing
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Experience with discovery, motion practice, and court appearances
• Deposition experience
• Sound judgment, professionalism, and strong organizational ability
• The ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines effectively
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to work independently when needed

We have also intentionally kept our annual billable requirement lower than many firms. Our target is 1,700 billable hours, which gives attorneys room to prepare thoroughly, take ownership of their matters, and continue developing as litigators.

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive base salary based on experience
• 15% bonus after 1,800 billable hours, plus potential for additional merit-based bonus(es)
• $10,000 sign-on bonus

-$4,000 after 90 days; $6,000 after 1 year of employment

Hybrid Schedule

After successful completion of onboarding, attorneys in this role are generally eligible for a hybrid schedule depending on court appearances, case demands, and firm needs. We value in-person collaboration, training, and teamwork, while recognizing that flexibility matters.
