About the Firm

A well-established boutique law firm in Ann Arbor is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join a small, collegial team. The firm carries an active client base across estate planning, estate administration, tax, real estate, and business law.

The Role

You will manage a caseload across the firm's core practice areas with a high degree of autonomy. The expectation is that you can hit the ground running, this role is not structured around heavy training or close supervision.


Practice Areas

Core: Estate planning, estate administration, tax

Additional: Real estate, business law

Open to: Probate litigation, business litigation


Candidates do not need experience across all areas. Meaningful exposure to at least one is the baseline.


What Sets This Opportunity Apart

The annual billable requirement is 1,400 hours, well below the industry standard of 1,800+. This is a deliberate structural decision by the firm, not a placeholder. Attorneys here are expected to do high-quality work and maintain a life outside the office.


For those who want to earn above base: there is an incentive bonus for hours billed above the annual requirement.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $85,000 – $115,000, commensurate with experience
  • Annual billable requirement: 1,400 hours
  • Incentive bonus for hours above requirement

  • Up to 4 weeks PTO (contingent on meeting annual hourly goal)


Ideal Candidate

  • Licensed to practice in Michigan, or eligible for admission
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Experience in at least one of the firm's practice areas
  • Self-starter who can manage a caseload independently
  • Team player with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Comfortable with or open to integrating AI tools into legal practice
  • Aligned with a values-driven culture
