Asset Management Inventory Specialist (Contract)

San Diego, CA (Hybrid – travel between two local offices required)

About the Role

We are seeking an Asset Management Inventory Specialist to support IT operations by managing hardware inventory, tracking assets, and ensuring smooth deployment and lifecycle management of technology equipment.

This role is ideal for someone with a desktop support or IT support background who has experience with asset tracking, imaging, and hardware deployment. You’ll act as a key point of contact for inventory management while supporting internal teams with timely and effective technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track IT assets throughout their full lifecycle (procurement → deployment → disposal) following ITAM standards
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in ServiceNow and Active Directory
  • Manage stockroom inventory (deployed and in-stock devices)
  • Image and deploy computers using SCCM, PXE boot, and/or Windows Autopilot
  • Resolve and manage tickets via ServiceNow
  • Perform inventory audits and assist with asset disposal processes
  • Support hardware requests (laptops, monitors, docking stations, printers, VoIP phones, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot end-user hardware, software, and conferencing tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
  • Provide responsive support via chat, email, and ticketing systems
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve technical issues efficiently

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of desktop/deskside or IT support experience
  • Experience with IT asset management / inventory tracking
  • Hands-on experience with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office troubleshooting
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems
  • Experience imaging and configuring devices (SCCM preferred)
  • Strong understanding of hardware setup and deployment
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Windows Autopilot or PXE boot
  • Experience working in enterprise IT environments
  • Familiarity with Active Directory
