Account Manager – Injection Molding / Technical Sales

Location: Manchester, CT

Travel: Occasional customer travel throughout the U.S.

About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing manufacturer serving OEM customers, is seeking an experienced Account Manager to manage and expand key customer relationships. This position will be responsible for driving business growth within existing accounts, identifying new opportunities, and partnering closely with engineering, production, and customer service teams to deliver successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow existing key accounts while identifying opportunities for additional business.
  • Develop strong customer relationships and serve as the primary point of contact throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with engineering, customer service, production, and operations teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Review customer drawings, prints, and models to identify opportunities for design improvements and manufacturability enhancements.
  • Provide recommendations on tooling, part optimization, and resin/material selection.
  • Prepare and present quotes for tooling, engineering runs, and production programs.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings and communicate project scope, timelines, and expectations internally.
  • Negotiate pricing based on manufacturing costs, market conditions, and customer requirements.
  • Conduct customer visits and support business development efforts as needed.
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction while achieving sales growth objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of account management, business development, or technical sales experience within manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting OEM customers is highly preferred.
  • Background in injection molding, plastics manufacturing, tooling, or related industries strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 2D/3D models.
  • Knowledge of mold construction, tooling development, and manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, identify opportunities, and close new business.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across sales, engineering, operations, and customer service teams.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
