Job Title: Wood Assembler

Job Description

The Wood Assembler is responsible for constructing subassemblies and final assemblies of customer products, using a variety of woodworking and assembly tools and equipment. This role includes reading and interpreting CAD drawings, preparing parts for production, assembling fixtures to exact specifications, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area. The position also involves light computer use to access program files and record daily completion data.

Responsibilities

  • Construct subassemblies and final assemblies of customer products according to established specifications and quality standards.
  • Read and follow fixture CAD drawings to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to design standards.
  • Inspect parts for quality, log rejects, and ensure compliance with company and customer quality requirements.
  • Complete daily parts preparation for production to support smooth workflow and on-time delivery.
  • Assemble and/or prep fixtures for final assembly and subassemblies, ensuring correct fit and proper alignment.
  • Operate a variety of assembly and machining equipment, including saws, nail guns, drills, clamps, and other hand and power tools.
  • Load and unload 4-foot sheets of plywood material onto machine tables in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Use a tape measure accurately to 1/16-inch increments when measuring materials and verifying dimensions.
  • Alert the supervisor to any assembly or quality problems, providing clear details and potential solutions.
  • Report daily completion records to the Assembly Lead and/or Floor Manager in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform end-of-day cleanup of the workbench, workstation, and immediate area to support a clean and organized facility.
  • Perform other job-related duties, tasks, and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure accurately to 1/16-inch increments.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings for fixture and assembly work.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical and woodworking processes.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools, including drills, nail guns, clamps, and related equipment.
  • Experience with saw operation and light assembly work.
  • Ability to load and unload 4-foot sheets of plywood material onto machine tables.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to find and download program files from a network server.
  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively with team members.
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment and follow written and verbal safety instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using tape measures, hand tools, power tools, and saws in a production or assembly environment.
  • Background in light assembly, woodworking, or fixture/display assembly is beneficial.
  • Comfort with basic computer operation for accessing files and recording information.
  • Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset when inspecting parts and assemblies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, leads, and other team members to resolve assembly issues.
  • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks and support other production activities as needed.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large warehouse and fully equipped production facility focused on building customized display cases and store fixtures for a wide range of commercial environments, including coffee houses, retail stores, grocery chains, and restaurants. The environment is hands-on, with frequent use of saws, nail guns, drills, clamps, and other woodworking and assembly equipment, as well as handling 4-foot sheets of plywood and other materials. Work involves standing, moving around the production floor, and working at benches and machine tables throughout the shift. The facility emphasizes meeting project budgets and deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency across locations. A clean, organized, and safety-conscious atmosphere is expected, with daily cleanup of workstations and adherence to safety policies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Benicia, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
