Job Title: Crate Assembler
Job Description

The Crate Assembler builds shipping crates, assembles and packages manufactured products after painting, and prepares them for shipment with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and safe use of tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and package manufactured products after they have completed the painting process to ensure only high-quality items are shipped.
  • Build sturdy wooden crates for shipping, using woodworking and carpentry techniques to protect products during transit.
  • Bolt and assemble gates, barriers, and related components according to specifications.
  • Follow detailed work instructions, blueprints, and drawings to complete assembly and crate-building tasks accurately.
  • Perform visual quality control inspections on painted products to identify defects or issues before packaging.
  • Select, package, and secure the correct hardware and components into each crate for shipment.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools safely and effectively in daily work.
  • Measure and cut wood and other materials accurately using appropriate measuring devices.
  • Wrap, package, and secure finished products for shipping to prevent damage in transit.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to use measuring devices accurately for cutting and assembly tasks.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and basic power tools for assembly and crate building.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including work instructions and blueprints.
  • Experience with general assembly or production work in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Capability to perform visual quality control checks on finished and painted products.
  • Basic understanding of safe operation of pneumatic tools and other shop equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous woodworking or carpentry experience, especially in building crates or similar structures, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with wood cutting, crate building, and construction-related tasks.
  • Background in packaging and wrapping products for shipping.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tool use in a production or construction setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and detailed work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, updated manufacturing facility with plenty of space for production and assembly activities. The environment supports hands-on work with wood, hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools for crate building, assembly, and packaging. The schedule typically runs Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with half days on Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. as needed. Team members have access to a comfortable break room equipped with a mini market, contributing to a positive and convenient workplace experience.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Forks, ND.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
