Waterfront Director

Oakland Feather River Camp
Quincy, CA

Waterfront Director (Head Lifeguard)

📍 Quincy, CA | 🗓️ May 28 – September 8, 2026

💰 $1000/week | Full-Time, Seasonal

At Oakland Feather River Camp, the waterfront isn’t just a swim area — it’s one of the most dynamic, high-trust environments on camp.

We’re looking for a Waterfront Director who can own that space.

This role is part safety lead, part team builder, part experience designer. You’ll oversee all waterfront operations, lead and develop lifeguards, and create an environment where campers and staff feel both safe and fully alive in the water.

What You’ll Own:

Waterfront Safety & Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations of a natural, moving body of water
  • Run skills checks, drills, and in-service trainings
  • Set and enforce clear, consistent safety standards
  • Lead from the front — calm, decisive, and accountable in high-pressure moments

Team Development

  • Supervise, coach, and support lifeguards and aquatic staff
  • Address performance in real time and develop staff over the summer
  • Contribute to a culture where people take pride in doing things well

Experience & Engagement

  • Be the point person for all waterfront activity
  • Support campers and families with clarity and presence
  • Create an environment that is structured, welcoming, and fun

Operations & Systems

  • Monitor waterfront conditions and equipment daily
  • Maintain logs, supplies, and communication with program leadership
  • Support broader program operations when not at the waterfront

Who This Is For

You’re not just a lifeguard - you’re someone who:

  • Has 2+ years of lifeguarding experience and strong rescue skills
  • Has led people before (formally or informally)
  • Can hold a high standard without killing the vibe
  • Communicates clearly and handles responsibility without needing to be chased
  • Stays composed when things get real

**Experience in natural waterfronts or camps helps, but isn’t required.**

The Environment

  • Outdoor, high-energy, constantly changing
  • 5-day work week with rotating days off
  • 8–9 hour days with built-in breaks
  • You’re part of the full camp experience; not siloed

Why This Role Matters

Camp is an all-in environment. The waterfront sets the tone for risk, trust, and energy across the entire program.

If it’s dialed in, everything feels better.

Culture

OFRC is a diverse, collaborative community that values people who show up, think critically, and contribute.

We actively encourage applicants from underrepresented backgrounds to apply - especially those who may not check every box on paper.

If you’re ready to lead a team, run a tight operation, and still create something that feels human - this is your lane.
