We’re hiring a Vice President of Engineering to take on a high-impact, hands-on leadership role driving backend standardization, architecture, and platform consistency across multiple engineering teams.
This is a player-coach position—ideal for a senior engineering leader who still thrives in the code, influences architecture decisions, and builds scalable frameworks used across the organization.
Overview
Lead the design and adoption of reusable backend frameworks (Java/Spring Boot)
Define and enforce API standards, service patterns, and engineering best practices
Drive consistency and standardization across distributed microservices teams
Act as a technical thought leader across engineering and architecture groups
Partner with senior engineers to review code, designs, and implementation approaches
Influence teams to adopt shared platforms, tools, and frameworks
Enable AI / GenAI capabilities within:
Stay hands-on when needed—contributing to architecture, POCs, and code reviews
Qualifications:
Proven experience at the VP / Sr. Director / Principal-level in software engineering
Strong hands-on Java + Spring Boot expertise (recent experience required)
Background in architectural design and backend engineering
Experience building:
Deep knowledge of:
Demonstrated success in driving engineering standardization across teams
Ability to function as a true player-coach (not purely managerial)
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior engineers & architects
Must have been hands-on within the past 10 years
