VP of IT Revenue Cycle - UPMC


Job Summary


The Vice President of IT Revenue Cycle at UPMC is the senior-most technology leader accountable for the strategy, delivery, and performance of the health system's revenue cycle application portfolio (e.g., patient access, HIM/CDI enablement, billing/claims, denials, A/R, cash posting, third party systems). The role drives enterprise application modernization, process optimization, technology-enabled performance improvement, and vendor governance in close partnership with Revenue Cycle, Finance, Compliance, and Operations.


Responsibilities

• Provide client-oriented service to our client community and, wherever possible, to our patients, families, and visitors under the commitments of IT to the internal philosophies of client service and the UPMC dedication to excellent service.

• Work collaboratively with members of the clinical and operations teams and IT management in coordinating the updating of plans and the development of new short-term strategies.

• Responsible for establishing and monitoring the service levels for the department or business unit in conjunction with other IT initiatives.

• Responsible for ensuring standard quality control processes to increase productivity and decrease cost of product and service delivery.

• Oversee and/or coordinate all aspects of systems implementation and maintenance as it relates to the enterprise technology within the department or business unit.

• Responsible for developing operating and capital budget projections and assessing impact of those projections upon team objectives for the department and business unit.

• Ensure the attainment of objectives for all areas of responsibility through: the selection, development, organization, motivation, management, evaluation and promotion of human resources; and the establishment and maintenance of facilities, hardware, software, supplies and other required resources in coordination within the department or business unit

• Prepare and deliver presentations for the senior management and other designated groups to explain, promote and support development efforts of technology services within department or business unit.

• Maintain compliance with applicable statutes, rules and regulations, the standards of accrediting bodies and corporate policies and compliance program standards of conduct.

• Monitor industry best practices and develop and implement operational and service enhancements as required by changing environments, technological advances and service and delivery strategies.

• Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

Educational and Knowledge Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.

• Typically possesses 15 years of Epic Revenue Cycle experience which includes at least 7-9 years of experience in leadership over large, complex, multi-site organizations that are implementing or already live on Epic.

• Requires advanced technical and business knowledge in multiple disciplines, technologies, and processes.

• Manages Directors or other senior level staff.

• Makes decisions on behalf of the business unit and or department related to development, deployment, adoption, infrastructure, and enterprise technology services.

• Must have demonstrated leadership competence and experience in handling issues related to IT systems and services.

• Demonstrated the ability to effectively communicate key technical messages to executive and senior level audiences outside of IT.

• Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to exercise independent judgment, estimate impact on work effort, and coordinate delivery of work performed by others.
