Job Description

This role supports a full-service concrete operation that specializes in foundations, flatwork, and decorative concrete work. The construction laborer assists with a variety of on-site tasks, including preparing work areas, handling materials, and using hand and power tools to support concrete installation and finishing. The position is physically demanding and requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions accurately in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all phases of concrete work, including foundations, flatwork, and decorative concrete tasks.
• Prepare job sites by setting up materials, tools, and equipment needed for daily operations.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to support concrete placement and finishing.
• Handle heavy lifting and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
• Support equipment operators by assisting with staging materials and maintaining clear work areas.
• Follow blueprints and layout instructions under supervision to ensure accurate placement and dimensions.
• Comply with safety procedures and OSHA guidelines at all times on the job site and in the shop.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area during and after each project.
• Travel from the shop to various job sites as part of a crew and work collaboratively with team members.
• Participate in orientation and training activities to learn company processes, safety standards, and job expectations.

Essential Skills

• 1–2 years of previous experience in a construction general laborer role.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and sustained physical labor throughout the day.
• Proficiency using basic hand tools and power tools in a construction environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Experience working with concrete, including foundations, flatwork, or decorative work.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints with guidance.
• OSHA 10 certification or the ability to work in compliance with OSHA 10 safety standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating forklifts, gradalls, or other construction lifts is a plus.
• Equipment operating experience in a construction setting.
• Gyp-crete experience is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with concrete equipment operation and site preparation.
• Comfort working both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a mix of indoor and outdoor settings, with roughly half of the work performed outside and half inside, depending on the project. The day typically starts around 6:00 a.m. at the shop in Olathe, where the crew meets and then carpools to the job site, which varies by project. Work continues until the job is finished for the day, generally between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. An orientation is provided on the first day, and the initial shift may be shorter to allow time for onboarding. The role involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, and concrete-related equipment in an active construction environment, with a focus on safety and adherence to OSHA standards. Appropriate construction attire is expected to support safe, comfortable work in changing indoor and outdoor conditions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Olathe, KS.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Olathe,KS.
