Job Title: General Laborer

Job Description

This role offers an opportunity to learn the commercial flat roofing trade while working as a general laborer on active construction sites. You will support experienced roofers by moving materials, using hand and power tools, and following all safety practices and PPE requirements while working outdoors on commercial and industrial roofing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced roofers with commercial flat roofing projects on construction and industrial sites.
  • Move, load, and unload roofing materials and equipment around the jobsite safely and efficiently.
  • Use hand tools and power tools regularly to support roofing and general construction tasks.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing 75–100 lbs on a regular basis throughout the workday.
  • Work at heights comfortably and safely while following fall protection and safety guidelines.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Report to the shop at the scheduled start time and travel with the crew to jobsites within the service area.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and arrive on time, prepared for the workday.
  • Work collaboratively with a crew of 2–5 team members to complete projects on schedule.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6+ months of experience in a general labor role or similar physically demanding environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry 75–100 lbs regularly throughout the workday.
  • Comfort working at heights and on roofs without fear of heights.
  • Ability to work outdoors 100% of the time in all weather conditions.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel independently to and from jobsites within approximately 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.
  • Consistent and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Physical stamina to perform demanding manual labor for a full shift.

  • Interest in learning and developing skills in the commercial flat roofing trade.
  • Willingness to follow instructions and learn from experienced roofers and crew leaders.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
  • Comfort working on commercial and industrial construction projects.

Work Environment

This is a fully outdoor role, working 100% of the time on commercial and industrial roofing projects in all weather conditions. The work is physically demanding and involves lifting heavy materials, climbing, and working at heights on roofs. Crews typically consist of 2–5 team members, fostering a team-oriented environment on each project. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., starting the day at the shop and then traveling to jobsites that are generally within about 45 minutes, with some larger projects up to approximately 1.5 hours away. The dress code includes jeans and steel-toe boots, and required PPE such as a hard hat and safety vest is provided and must be worn on site.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
