Position Summary:
The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing all corporate tax planning, compliance, and reporting activities for a multi-state and international manufacturing organization, while partnering cross-functionally with finance, operations, and leadership. This role ensures accurate filings, supports audits, manages tax strategy, and maintains compliance across domestic and foreign entities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local corporate tax returns and supporting workpapers
- Manage book-to-tax differences, tax provisions, and deferred tax calculations
- Calculate and file quarterly estimated taxes and extensions
- Identify and apply applicable tax credits and strategies
- Oversee sales and use tax filings across multiple jurisdictions
- Support and manage tax audits with federal, state, and local authorities
- Prepare and file various compliance reports including business licenses, annual reports, and regulatory filings
- Coordinate foreign reporting requirements and support international tax compliance
- Partner with external auditors and CPAs for year-end reporting and foreign entity filings
- Research tax implications of business transactions and provide recommendations
- Assist with financial audit preparation and inventory processes
- Support special projects including M&A activity, tax abatements, and succession planning
- Monitor changes in tax laws and communicate business impact
- Collaborate with HR on payroll-related tax updates and compliance
- Recommend and improve internal controls related to tax and financial processes
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 6+ years of experience in tax or financial accounting, preferably within a corporate or manufacturing environment
- Experience with multi-state and international tax compliance strongly preferred
- CPA license required
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
