System Administrator – Managed Services

Location: Houston, TX

Schedule: Hybrid after ramp-up, 1 day remote per week

Salary: $60,000 – $70,000


Overview

We are a Houston-based Cloud and Managed Services Provider hiring a System Administrator to support continued growth across our client base. This role is ideal for a strong Level 2 Technician or junior Systems Administrator who has experience working in an MSP environment and is comfortable handling escalations, troubleshooting Microsoft environments, and supporting light project work.


You will split your time between escalated support from Tier 1 technicians and hands-on technical work across desktops, servers, Microsoft 365, networking, firewalls, VMware, and cloud technologies. This is a strong opportunity for someone who has moved beyond basic help desk support and wants to continue growing into more advanced systems and infrastructure work.


Responsibilities

  • Handle escalated support issues involving Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, and desktop environments
  • Support and troubleshoot Windows 10/11 workstations, printers, applications, and end-user devices
  • Assist with light project work including hardware/software deployments, migrations, and system improvements
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity, VPN issues, and remote access solutions
  • Configure and support network equipment including routers, switches, and SonicWall firewalls
  • Support VMware environments, backups, and server-related issues
  • Work with Tier 1 technicians to resolve escalations and improve ticket quality
  • Deliver responsive, customer-focused support across multiple client environments


Required Experience

  • Experience working for a Managed Service Provider (MSP)
  • 3+ years of IT support experience in a ticket-driven environment
  • Strong troubleshooting experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Windows 10/11
  • Experience supporting Windows Server, Exchange, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals including LAN/WAN, firewalls, switches, and routers
  • Ability to handle escalated issues independently while supporting multiple client environments
  • Strong communication skills and a customer service-focused approach


Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting SonicWall firewalls
  • VMware administration or troubleshooting experience
  • Azure / Entra ID experience
  • Experience with SharePoint, Terminal Services, Citrix, or backup solutions
  • Experience assisting with small projects, migrations, or client onboarding
