Superintendent

Position Overview

Our client are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Superintendent to lead field operations across multiple construction projects in the Jackson, Mississippi area. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of civil construction, including site development, utilities, and infrastructure work.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and supervision for civil construction projects
• Manage and coordinate field personnel, including operators, labor crews, and subcontractors
• Lead hiring, training, performance management, and termination decisions for field staff
• Ensure proper staffing levels across all active job sites
• Oversee daily site operations, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence
• Review plans, specifications, and project schedules to ensure execution aligns with project goals
• Coordinate site logistics, sequencing, and resource allocation
• Monitor productivity and hold teams accountable for performance
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure successful project delivery
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and local stakeholders

Scope of Work

This role focuses primarily on civil construction, including:

• Earthwork, grading, and site preparation
• Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm drainage)
• Roadways and infrastructure development
• Site development for commercial and public projects

The Superintendent will also work alongside teams involved in vertical construction, though the primary responsibility is civil scope execution.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in civil construction, with at least 3+ years in a Superintendent or senior field leadership role
• Strong background in site development, earthwork, and underground utilities
• Experience managing multiple crews and job sites simultaneously
• Proven ability to lead teams, enforce safety standards, and drive project schedules
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Experience working with subcontractors and self-perform teams
