Segrera Associates is working with a financial services organization that is looking to hire a staff accountant. The staff accountant supports the Finance Department’s responsibility to its shareholders, employees, and directors in the areas of accounting and reporting.
What you will do:
- Daily preparation of correspondent bank reconciliations
- Posting transactions to the General Ledger
- Processing Accounts Payables
- Preparing workpapers for internal/external audits
- Daily and month-end General Ledger reconcilements. Investigate discrepancies by collaborating and communicating with bank staff and management to ensure items are cleared in a timely manner.
- Setting up Accruals/Prepaids/Fixed Assets
- Preparing reports for management
- Prepare various schedules for external annual audit, internal audits, and regulatory exam.
- Perform ongoing financial control functions in accordance with internal controls policies.
- Backup for other accounting staff through cross-training
- Other duties to be determined.
Who you are:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance degree preferred, or combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Background in financial institution accounting and deposit operations policies and procedures strongly desired.
- Have knowledge of generally accepted accounting and regulatory principles.
- Excel proficiency is required (including pivot tables and v-lookup functionality).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.
- A high level of independent judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills
- An inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to frequently communicate with senior managers, officers, and executives.
- Ability to prioritize projects, quickly determine the requirements to accomplish them, and analyze the processes to figure out how to simplify, automate, and improve them for increased efficiency.
