Overview of Position


The Staff Accountant position within our General Ledger Accounting Team is primarily responsible for completing the preparation of assigned general ledger accounting entries, general ledger account reconciliations, and monthly and quarterly financial reporting. Through the execution of these responsibilities, this position’s work will support financial decisions behind our company’s strategy and goals, frequently interact cross functionally within the organization, and ensure compliance with SOX requirements. This role is also responsible for identifying and developing process improvements through the use of technology, including AI. This role provides in-depth access to public company accounting processes, process owners, and a strong accounting team for support. This role reports to the Senior Accountant – Reporting and Compliance. The role is Hybrid with three days in office per week at our Corporate Headquarters located in Baltimore, Maryland.


Job Responsibilities

  • Support timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries and accruals.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and identify and report any required adjustments.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Support management’s assessment over internal controls.
  • Actively engage in training and mentorship from other members of the accounting and finance teams.

Independent contributor that supports all divisions and departments within the Company.


Knowledge, Education, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related fields
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in accounting or related fields (inclusive of related education experience and internships)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (or active pursuit) preferred
  • Basic understanding of US GAAP
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required
