Staff Accountant

Forest Lake / Columbus, Minnesota | On-Site| Full-Time

About Us

JP Ecommerce has been named one of the top-ten fastest-growing businesses in Minnesota by Inc. 5000 for the past four years in a row. We provide customers with high-quality bedding through our brand Bare Home. As a $100M+ e-commerce textile company, we source premium products from China, India, Pakistan, and Turkey while also manufacturing cotton products in the USA.

We’ve grown from a small startup to a team of more than 90 employees, and we’re continuing to expand as we scale our operations to support aggressive year-over-year growth. Our collaborative, entrepreneurial culture means your work has real visibility — you’ll see your analysis and your numbers directly support decisions made by leadership.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting or finance graduate — or an early-career professional with one to two years of experience — who wants to build a career in a fast-moving, high-growth company rather than be siloed in a large corporate setting.

What should excite you about this role:

You’ll work side by side with our FP&A team and our Controller, learning directly from highly talented accounting and finance professionals. Because we’re a small company operating across both retail and international trade, you won’t be boxed into one narrow function — you’ll gain hands-on exposure to the full range of finance and accounting. You’ll take part in monthly and annual P&L reviews, contribute to special projects tied to our expansion, including Minnesota DEED economic-development initiatives, and work directly with our CEO and other members of the executive team.

This is the kind of experience you only find at a fast-paced startup that has grown 20–30% year over year: you’ll see the direct results of your work, take real ownership, and develop across the full scope of the business in a way that simply isn’t available in a larger corporate environment. It’s built for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and ready to grow — with a clear path toward Senior Accountant and beyond as you develop.

What You’ll Do

General Accounting & Month-End Close

  • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Perform account reconciliations, including bank, general ledger, credit card, and intercompany accounts
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports
  • Investigate and help resolve variances and discrepancies in financial data

Cost Accounting & Inventory

  • Support landed-cost analysis for international imports from China, India, Pakistan, and Turkey
  • Assist with monthly inventory valuations and reconciliations for finished goods
  • Help track and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) across product lines and retail channels

Transactional & Compliance Support

  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
  • Help maintain accurate accounting records and documentation in line with GAAP
  • Assist with external audit and tax-preparation requests
  • Follow and help maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures

Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner with operations, procurement, and logistics teams to gather accurate financial data
  • Support process improvements and complete ad hoc analysis to inform business decisions

What You Need

  • High attention to detail, strong organization, and a commitment to accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with eagerness to learn and grow

Highly Valued

  • CPA license, or active progress toward CPA eligibility or the CPA exam
  • Internship or coursework in cost accounting, inventory, or e-commerce/retail
  • Exposure to accounting software or ERP systems (NetSuite a plus)

  • Interest in international trade, imports, and landed-cost analysis

Compensation & Benefits
