About the Role
The Sr. Tax Associate reports to the Tax and Accounting Manager and works closely with the CFO and CEO as well external consultants and clients of the family office.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares complex federal, state, and local tax returns, extension and quarterly estimate calculations for high-net-worth individuals.
- Prepares and reviews trusts, partnerships and foundations.
- Gathers data and maintains schedules needed by outside tax consultants.
- Prepares correspondence in response to notices received from taxing authorities.
- Identifies tax planning opportunities and strategies by researching federal, state, and local taxation issues.
- Stays up to date on new or revised laws.
- Revises procedures by developing and streamlining procedures and worksheets for calculation of tax provisions.
- Develops relationships with internal accounting team and external tax consultants.
- Assists internal departments by providing tax cash needs and other ad-hoc requests.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Work closely with family members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ Years Public Accounting Experience
- CPA Preferred
Required Skills:
- Broad base tax knowledge and basic knowledge of US GAAP
- Proficient in MS Excel
- Knowledge of ProSystem/CCH Axcess a plus
- Proficiency in Excel
- Process improvement, analytics, exposure to AI in finance setting preferred.
