Splicing Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Splicing Manager to oversee field construction activities, fiber splicing operations, and vendor performance across fiber network projects. This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day field operations, ensuring installation quality, maintaining network integrity, and overseeing subcontractors and splicing crews in the field. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with OTDR testing, ribbon fiber splicing, outage response, and telecom construction management.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily field construction activities, fiber splicing operations, and vendor crews across multiple fiber projects
• Manage subcontractors, splicing vendors, and field technicians to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards
• Perform quality control inspections on fiber construction and splicing work to ensure network integrity and compliance with engineering specifications
• Review and analyze OTDR traces, splice loss results, and fiber test documentation for acceptance and closeout
• Oversee ribbon fiber splicing, mass fusion splicing, and proper fiber handling and cable management practices
• Coordinate field activities between construction, splicing, engineering, and operations teams
• Support and lead outage response efforts, emergency restorations, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
• Coordinate and execute network cutovers, maintenance windows, and service activations
• Verify routes, permits, traffic control setups, and adherence to construction and safety requirements in the field
• Ensure all as-builts, splice records, and testing documentation are accurate and properly submitted
• Monitor vendor productivity, workmanship, safety compliance, and overall project performance
• Conduct field audits and provide corrective action guidance when quality or safety issues are identified

Qualifications

• Experience managing fiber splicing, OSP construction, or telecom infrastructure projects
• Strong hands-on experience with OTDR testing, fiber troubleshooting, and network acceptance testing
• Experience with ribbon fiber splicing and mass fusion splicing equipment
• Proven experience overseeing field construction crews, subcontractors, and splicing vendors
• Strong understanding of fiber construction standards, splice loss requirements, and network documentation
• Ability to troubleshoot network outages and lead restoration activities in the field
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and vendor management skills
• Familiarity with splice diagrams, GIS systems, as-builts, and telecom construction practices preferred
